About Salty Cushions

To most, a boat is a livelihood, a home, a porthole to the sea. Salty Cushions believes that peace of mind leads to more enjoyable, carefree moments on the water. We do this by delivering durable, innovative marine fabrication solutions that protect from the harsh elements of the sea.

Owners Monica and Mike Stockburger have a lifetime of experience in the industry. Here are a few of the products we excel at:

  • Bimini and enclosures
  • Custom marine canvas
  • Polycarbonate windows
  • Sail repair
  • Interior and exterior cushions
  • Coaming bolsters
  • Lazy jack sail packs
  • Dodgers and shade

After just three months of retirement from a local school district, Monica immediately got to work building what is now Salty Cushions. She studied upholstery at the Tarrant County College in Texas, where she married her long history of furniture repair, quilting, and personal sewing projects with her passion for expanding into the marine fabrication business.

Mike has a long history of working on the water. Following two decades living and fishing on the Yukon River and working in Bristol Bay, he purchased the Homer Boat Yard. Operating the full-service boat yard provided him with experience in painting and mechanical repair on boats of all sizes and purposes.

Salty Cushions recently moved shop from Homer to Whittier to better provide services to all of South Central Alaska – and beyond! While our location has changed, our commitment to providing durable, custom marine canvas products stays the same.
