Our Work

The M/V Lightning was originally built by Maxweld Boats as a research vessel and was recently refurbished by Bay Weld Boats. Salty Cushions was brought on to create a wrap-around settee, cushions for below-deck bunks, and fabric panels – all custom-built.

Because we knew this boat needed high-quality fabric that could withstand years of use, Serge Ferrari Stamskin One was selected for its durability and stain resistance, and its rich color perfectly complemented the exterior paint and design elements.

Following the completion of the full overhaul of the M/V Lightning, this 44′ Catamaran was leased for thousands of dollars to a European millionaire as a tender to their megayacht for the duration of their stay in Southeast Alaska. This large-scale project involved several partners – Bay Weld, Salty Cushions – coming together to deliver an amazing final product.

Take a 3-D tour of the M/V Lightning below.

Nothing is trickier than capturing photos of clear polycarbonate windows – and nothing is more satisfying than tearing off the protective cover on a new set of windows!

The three levels of windows – a total of 25 panels – of the shrimping vessel Jimel are made of polycarbonate for clarity. The top windows provide protected access to the dinghy and the lower level encloses the working deck while allowing access to the cutting table and space for bringing shrimp pots into the boat.
